The rise of Basketball
Spreading around the world, basketball came to Brazil in 1896, at the hands of an American missionary, Auguste F. Shaw, in 1896. As a sport, however, it was only in 1912 that it was practiced for the first time in Rio de Janeiro, also in the ACM, in a small precinct in Rua Quitanda, nº 47, where two columns located in the middle of the hall disturbed "a little" the movement of the practitioners.

After this phase, Brazil fell and began to fail to achieve good results in international competitions. Until that came the Oscar generation that won the Pan American Indianapolis in 1987, taking Brazil to another level, from which could face the other teams on an equal footing. But the 'Age of Oscar' that had Macel, Guerrinha and the Oscar himself came to an end and the country returned to present bad results. In the last World Cup, in 98 we bitter the 10th position and in the 94 we finished 11th. After the unforgettable team of 1987 dismounted we still can not form a team with the strength to compete in an international competition.
Brazil is currently the leader of its division for the Olympics competition, which shocked its connoisseurs greatly by the great evolution, and remains the question is that Brazil has once again become one of the capitals of the world basketball?
