Halloween curiosities (:

     CURIOSIDADES DE HALLOWEEN

     1) Believe it or not, Halloween was celebrated some 6000          years ago and its origin is believed to be in Ireland,                there are 4000 B.C

2) Halloween has its origins in the old Celtic festival of "Samhain" - the celebration of the end of the harvest season. At that time, the Celts believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead were open and the dead returned to life to wreak havoc among the living. A way to ward off the dead? Wear costumes and masks.

3)  Halloween is the second most commercial holiday in the US: Americans spend about $ 6.9 billion on Halloween - mostly on candy, costumes and parties.

4)  Pumpkin carvings on Halloween are not just fun - they are supposed to scare away evil spirits and keep the living protected.

5)  Do not be alarmed if you see a spider (in truth) in full Halloween: it is believed that this may be the spirit of a deceased or loved one who is taking care of you.
