Bumba meu Boi
Bumba-meu-boi is a very traditional Brazilian folguedo,typical of the northeastern region of Brazil. It began in the 18th century, mixing aspects of Portuguese, Black and Indian cultures. It consists of a dance accompanied by regional music, where a man dressed in ox does several choreographies.

Frevo

In Pernambuco, between the years of 1910 and 1911, the appearance of a very lively Carnival rhythm took place and is famous until today: the frevo . The word frevo comes from boiling, since, the style of dance makes it look like one of people's feet exists a surface with boiling water. As w'e have seen, the frevo is played, however, in some cases, it can also be sung.
There is still a slower form of frevo, and this one is called a frevo-song.
 

Carimbó
The name refers to curimbó, the main musical instrument used in this folkloric manifestation,which was done with a manually excavated trunk.The carimbó appeared with the habit of the farmers and the fishermen who, at the end of the daily works, danced to the drum rhythm.Taking into account the size of Pará, at least the following types: carimbó praieiro, carimbó pastoril e carimbó rural.
Two drums, which in this rhythm is called curimbó are the indispensable instruments,In addition, afochê, banjo, flute, ganzá, maracá, tambourine and reco-reco are also used.


Samba

The samba was introduced in Brazil in the colonial period by the African slaves being therefore a style that comes from the fusion between the African and Brazilian cultures.

Samba de roda: the samba de roda is associated with capoeira and the cult of the orixás.
Samba-plot: associated with the theme of samba schools, the samba-plot is characterized by presenting songs with historical, social or cultural themes.
Samba-song: This style is characterized by romantic songs and slower rhythms.
Samba-exaltação: Characterized by letters that present patriotic and proud themes.
Samba de gafieira: The samba de gafieira is a ballroom dance whose man leads the woman accompanied by a fast-paced orchestra.
Pagode: Characterized by a repetitive rhythm with percussion instruments accompanied by electronic sounds.
 


Maracatu 
Maracatu is a folkloric dance of Afro-Brazilian origin, typical of the state of Pernambuco. It emerged in the middle of the eighteenth century, from the musical miscegenation of Portuguese, Indian and African cultures. It is a court dance associated with the Congo kings. The maracatus dance to the sound of the following musical instruments: tarol, zabumba and ganzas.
