A metalhead and a gothic person are not the same

Many people confuse the two terms and called metalhead (or headbanger) as being a gothic person or a gothic person as being metalhead.

Headbanger subculture:
Inside the headbanger subculture, people usually listen to heavy metal and its variants, like black, death, doom, gothic, symphonic, thrash metal, among other subgenres.

Some of the best known bands:
Metallica, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Slipknot, Angra, Korn, Nightwish, among others.

Some of the lesser-known bands:
Agalloch, Burzum, Celtic Frost, Equilibrium, Limbonic Art, Tristania, Carcass, Dark Tranquility, Theatre of Tragedy, Therion, Draconian and others.

There are also metal bands that have christian lyrics, called white metal:
Stryper (Heavy Metal), Mortification (Death/Thrash Metal), Theocracy (Power Metal), P.O.D. (Nu Metal) and many other bands.

For those who enjoy The Lord of the Rings or other Tolkien books, we indicate some bands:
Summoning, Emyn Muil, Nazgûl, Ered Wethrin and Eldamar.

Gothic subculture:
Gothic people usually listen to gothic rock, darkwave (or coldwave), post-punk, death rock, synthpop and other many genres and styles.

Some of the best known bands inside the gothic subculture:
The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Mission, The Cult, Cocteau Twins and many other bands.

Note: Evanescence is not a gothic band. Get over it

As you can see, the gothic subculture has nothing to do with the headbanger subculture.

Of course, gothic people can listen to metal bands, the same way that headbangers can listen to gothic bands.
