muay thai
Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, is a
sport originated in Thailand, with more than 1000 years of existence. The sport
had a lot of popularity, because at the time it started had the support of the
king of Thailand, known as Tiger, he was one of the greatest fighters in the
history of Thailand, and by his popularity training was also taught in schools,
be binding on the soldiers. In Brazil, Muay Thai arrived in 1979. In 1980 the
first association was inaugurated and in 1981 the first championship was held
between Rio de Janeiro and Paraná.
Known as a very violent
fighting sport, with the use of elbows, knees, blows with the cinnamon, kicks
and also rotating blows. Elbows
can be used from a variety of angles, such as diagonally, upward or downward.
This stroke is most often used when the distance to the opponent is small.
The Knees are used in 4 different strokes: kao
dode - leap up and with the same leg is given a blow with the knee; kao loi -
leap to the side and with the same leg to the knee; kao tom - knee up straight
and kao noi where the knee seeks the thigh or belly of the opponent.
The punches are also used in 4 ways: jab -
punch with the front hand seeking the opponent's chin; the direct one is with
the back hand also seeking the chin; crossed is the one that crosses the front
line of the opponent and the upper one is the punch from the bottom up looking
for the chin.
The kicks on muay thai are used with the foot
or with the cinnamon and there are 3 ways: round kick the circular kick that
seeks the thigh, cinnamon or head, front kick is the front kick that seeks to
defend a stroke and already prepare for the attack, spin back kick with a spin
hits the opponent with the heel.
This art has techniques of attack and defense,
and is a type of martial art where there is a lot of friction with the
opponent.
In times when Muay Thai originated in Thailand,
Buddhist monks had the tradition of tattooing the body to have divine
protection, and with this they also believe that they have the ability to gain
the admiration of their adversaries. And this tradition also exists in Brazil,
the great majority of the fighters have tattoos by the body. The symbol in the
muay thai is the cobra Naja, because like the Cobra the fighters must have a
speedy and precise boat and also good reflex.
