What is Artificial Intelligence?

  The definition of artificial intelligence is related to machines' ability to think as human beings - to have the power to learn, reason, perceive, deliberate, and decide in a rational and intelligent way. And it's not a new concept. In 1956, John McCarthy, a university professor, created the term to describe a world in which machines could "solve the kinds of problems that are now reserved for humans."

  Regardless of whether the theoretical models of artificial intelligence had existed for a long time, computers still needed three things to evolve, in fact, from simple computing to real AI:

1. Good data models to intelligently classify, process and analyze data.
2. Access large amounts of raw data to feed the models so that they continue to improve.
3. Powerful computing with affordable cost for fast and efficient processing.

  Currently, artificial intelligence is finally possible with the following formula: big data + cloud computing + good data models = smarter machines.

How does Artificial Intelligence work?

The work involves much more than realizing her presence in your daily experiences. Every time you pick up your smartphone, you are already seeing what AI can do for you, but behind every personalized recommendation to relevant search results, there is a combination of technologies that make artificial intelligence work and are, therefore, making you have higher expectations on all the smart machines and devices you use.

How is AI applied day in and day out?

Artificial intelligence is the most powerful technological change in the area of computer science. In addition to making the choices smarter, it also integrates predictive analytics with the applications we use every day. Connecting diverse environments of life like home, work, leisure, travel and more in a single experience, the AI will not only help when we ask, but also accompany us, anticipate needs and remember important tasks. As a consumer, you are likely to use artificial intelligence without even realizing it:

• Applications such as Siri use voice processing to act as a personal assistant;

• Facebook uses image recognition to recommend tagging in fotos;

• Amazon makes personalized recommendation of products using machine learning algorithms;

• Waze provides the best routes from your location with just one click, while autopilots use AI techniques to avoid traffic jams and collisions;

• Google can automatically populate searches using artificial intelligence features and also predict what you want to search with great accuracy.

What is Big Data?

We can understand Big Data as large amounts of information, structured or not, which are the basis for determining patterns and making predictions. It is what feeds artificial intelligence and the processes of machine learning, deep learning and PLN.
