Memorial Day

Memorial Day It's the day of remembrance. Many people know this holiday as the unofficial beginning of the American summer because in most of the cold northern states of the USA it is during the Memorial Day holiday that families make their first outdoor barbecues of the year.

What is celebrated on this day?

The memorial day began in the years after the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. It honors men and women who died in the service of the US Armed Forces. Many Americans visit cemeteries and memorials this day, hold family gatherings and participate in patriotic parades.
