                                WHO WAS SÃO PATRÍCIO?



St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Little is known about Patrick's life, but it is believed that he was born in England in the fourth century and was kidnapped by pirates at age 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped and returned to England, beginning a life dedicated to the Church. In the year 432, Patrician claimed to have received a call to return to Ireland for the evangelization of the Irish. According to Irish folklore, it is said that to explain the doctrine of the Holy Trinity to the Celts, he used the three-leaf clover as a method of evangelization. It is believed that he converted thousands of believers.

WHY IS IT CELEBRATED DAY 17 OF MARCH?

St. Patrick is celebrated on March 17, because it was on this day that he died after 30 years working on various missions linked to the Catholic Church with the aim of evangelizing the Irish. Over the years, the tradition of using green, celebrating the date has become increasingly common and currently there are great celebrations around the world.

THE CELEBRATION IN THE USA

Although St. Patrick's Day is not an official holiday in the USA since the 19th century, several American cities celebrate the date in honor of Irish culture. There are places that are all decked out in green, there is food and drink and even parades. One of the most famous events occurs in Chicago, in which the river that crosses the city is all colored in green.
