Soccer
Especially in Brazil, football has a remarkable importance. Culturally and traditionally it is the favorite sport of children and adults, coming often to be called "national fever". From an early age, children start practicing the sport just for fun, but today many people have taken their careers seriously and invested in sports. The biggest soccer players in the world are Brazilians, from the oldest to the most current.
Brazil has made history through this sport mainly in the WORLD CUP, which is where each country selects its best players to together defend the flag of their native land. Brazil is a title record holder in the history of this competition, is a five-time world football champion, followed by Italy who acquired their fourth title at the 2006 COPA.
Origin of Soccer:
It is not known exactly how the sport started, but it is found in
ancient history, several types of sports practiced with the use of the ball and
very similar to Football, although it did not possess the organization and
current rules. The closest thing to current football is a game found in Greece
around the 1st century BC, this game was practiced by soldiers who divided into
two teams of nine people and played with a ball full of sand. There were also
found games not so similar in Ancient China, about 3000 BC, which was played as
military training, and in Old Japan a game practiced by members of the court.
History of Football:
During the Middle Ages, a game very similar to football was manifested, but this made frequent use of violence between players. It consisted of two teams with 27 players each and was allowed any kind of physical aggression to achieve the victory. The functions of runners, punters, goalkeepers, etc., were occupied by subgroups in each team.
In Italy there is the presence of a
game called gioco del calcio, which ended up being forbidden because of too
much violence in its practice, but soon after it was practiced again, but with
several rules that prohibited violence and which were observed pro more than
ten judges.
It was in England, however, that the rules currently known to us were
implemented. There the game was systematized, the size of the field was
determined and it was used to use the leather ball filled with air. Gradually
the game became popular and received, in 1848, a unified code of rules to be
practiced anywhere in the world.
Dates for setting some rules:
1871: goalkeeper (goalkeeper)
1875: 90 minute time rule
1891: A penalty shootout
1907: rule of the impediment.
In 1885 football was played professionally, and in 1904 FIFA was created. He was brought to Brazil by Charles Miller, who, when traveling to England, learned of the sport and brought in 1894 a soccer ball and the rules. The first Brazilian soccer team was São Paulo Athletic.
Some of the main soccer championships for Brazil, currently,
are: The World Cup, the Brazilian Championship, the America Cup, the
Confederations Cup, among others.
